Rocker MATT SORUM had a fright when he first tried his producer skills at Hollywood`s haunted Studio 56 - the touch of a decapitated man who had been killed outside let the Velvet REVOLVER star know his music wasn`t appreciated.
Sorum and engineer pal Jim Mitchell hired out the studio for a recording session with a circle the drummer liked and they were spooked by a ghost who prompted them to flee.
Appearing on U.S.
show Celebrity Ghost Stories, the other Guns N` Roses star admits the meeting with the wild spirit is one that has made him a believer.
He recalls, "We recorded all the instruments and the vocals and guitars and what not, and at this period of the evening it was somewhat late - about two o`clock in the morning. We started recording more lead vocals and as we were recording everything sounded fine_ and so every sentence we played back the record there was there was this low sort of a voice-rumbling sound.
"It was most like a Gregorian kinda chant sound. We were like, `What is that?` We finally gave up and the ring took off."
Sorum and Mitchell were left entirely in the check room listening back to what had been recorded when the engineer was pushed out of his lead by a mystical force, which followed him to the restroom.
Sorum adds, "He (Mitchell) had this white, state-of-shock look on his look and he said, `I only saw a ghost_ This guy walked behind me in the can and so he disappeared. There was nobody there_` He was starting to get pretty freaked out.
"We walked down the hall to the couch and we got right to the threshold_ and a spokesperson said, `Don`t get in here, you`re not invited_` There was a presence there.
"Out of the left corner of my eye I saw this mast of air that looked like a little cloud drifting across the way_ I put my hand out and when I moved it, I backed off_ It ran up my arm and down my body until the spirit came to me like ice.
"We were pretty freaked out so we made a fast descent_ to the check room. We packed up and I thought, `I don`t believe we`ll be coming back here because the studio is definitely haunted.`"
Sorum later discovered he wasn`t the first sensation to meet the studio ghost of the headless dead man who was base in a garbage bag behind the construction in 1991.
He says, "They had had clients allow the premises because of unknown events and all the employees quit_ Studio 56 finally went out of business."
